Good Grief, Microsoft!

I’m a retired IT chap but I still help people with problems.

Today, a lady with an Apple laptop was using both Hotmail and Gmail as her email accounts.

The Hotmail account was experiencing issues. So passwords on both accounts were changed for reasons of a scammer.

We were successful in changing the passwords. However, to change the password in Outlook on the Mac created all sort of problems. We were asked to deal with a visible puzzle which was very difficult to figure out. Alternatively, we changed to an audible test which went on for five tests.

With these problems the lady decided that using the Hotmail account was too much of a problem in Outlook.

So I moved her Hotmail inbox contents to her Google inbox. Then we removed the Outlook app from the Mac and decided on using Apple Mail. I marked that all emails addressed to the Hotmail account were automatically forwarded to the Google account.

So in Apple Mail, without any problems at all, the lady is now receiving all her email in the Google account and is content. The Hotmail account has been removed entirely.

Microsoft has made the simpler things so complicated that I wonder how people deal with it on a daily basis. Not for me!
