J.D. Vance is a convert to Catholicism who seems to think he knows more than Pope Leo XIV about Theology.
The principle of A Just War was laid down by St. Augustine of Hippo a thousand years ago. Pope Leo is an Augustinian who led the Order before he became Pope. He will know far more than Vance about A Just War and St. Augustine.
In order to convert to Catholicism one has to pass through several weeks of learning about what the Catholic Church is all about and what it stands for.
In the U.S. this is called the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA). In the U.K. it is called R.C.I.A. replacing the word Order with the word Rite.
It turns out that Vance never went though OCIA.
As a result, his conversion should be rescinded until such time as he has completed OCIA which I doubt he will do.
He should not be allowed to pontificate about Catholicism.
