I have been using the Apple ecosystem for a few years since abandoning Microsoft when Vista came out.
I have a Macbook Air and an iPhone 13 at present and until recently had an iPad Pro M4 13 inch and an Apple Watch 10 both of which I sold to finance the building of an apartment for my fiancée and me.
Recent world events especially in the United States has started the thought process in my brain of moving away from American technology. The U.S. is fast becoming an oligarchial fascist state where the Constitution is being blatenly ignored by the Trump administration with the silent consent of the Republican Congress and the Supreme Court. Trump favours the rich.
The U.S. can be identified by two things that show how bad things are: No free healthcare and the gun culture.
Why does this both me as I live currently in the U.K. but in time I shall be living in South East Asia?
It signifies to me the atrophy of the West led by the U.S.that is taking place.
The U.S. sees China as a threat to its security. The Chinese Government is a Communist one politically but it has done so much to advance the lot of so many Chinese citizens over the years to the point that China is gaining rapidly on the U.S. for technology and quality of life.
Already, China is dealing with Climate Change so much better than the U.S. where it is being ignored. China is now the leader in Electric Vehicles as well as having built a network of high speed rail across the nation whereas in the U.S. there is no high spoed rail in place, relying more on cars and planes which damage the environment. The current U.S. administration is living in the past on climate matters when it is the single biggest issue facing humanity.
In the main, the average level of knowledge of Americans is woeful. What they know about the outside world is pathetic.
Any country capable of electing a convicted felon as its leader displays this ignorance in spades.
So, in the technological area, I am increasingly looking to China and specifically at Huawei and Xiaomi rather than Apple and Google. I have not made any firm decisions on my future direction.
Trump and Biden thought they could destroy Huawei with sanctions but instead Huawei has developed and continues to develop world leading technology. Such is the stupidity of Trump that he underestimates the intelligence and ability of the Chinese people. By forbidding Google to offer their services to Huawei, it forced Huawei to develop its own systems and that is the Harmony Next Operating System which works on everything – phones, watches, laptops, etc.
