I have become fascinated by two Chinese companies – Huawei and Xiaomi – who are producing wonderful tech at great prices.
Huawei has a triple fold phone which is out of reach for me financially but they have other fine phones. Since the U.S. blocked Huawei and Google’s Android was banned for them, they wrote their own operating system from scratch and it is now available in China. It is called Harmony Next and is selling very well. It is not yet available outside China.
Xiaomi have wonderful products priced very aggressively. So I purchased a POCO C85 phone for just £99 and a Xiaomi Watch for £32. I did this just to test out these items. POCO is an entry level sub-brand of Xiaomi. The phone is very good for its price. The watch works well with iOS and the battery lasts for close to a month.
I have enjoyed doing this testing but have decided on staying with Apple and will purchase an iPhone 17. This is because I am deeply in the Apple eco-system and so is my fiancée so it boils down to common sense.
So Biden and Trump’s actions against China have backfired spectacularly making the U.S. look like a toothless tiger.
