Which AI chatbot do you use?

I started with ChatGPT and I have used it most of the time until I read Karen Hao’s book Empire of AI (see my Links page) and now I’m not sure if Sam Altman can be trusted so I looked at other LLMs. Specifically, they went to third world countries to employ people at very low wages and wanted to build server farms that would need so much water for cooling that the villagers would have little water for themselves. Not a very humane prospect.

Deepseek came out from China and it performs very well despite their spending a fraction of what OpenAI spent developing their models. It is a favourite of mine.

I read some reviews comparing the different LLMs and ChatGPT always was ranked high as was Google’s Gemini so I tried it out and I like it.

So currently, I’m using Deepseek and Gemini.

As an Apple user, the slow development of Siri irritates me but I expect Apple will catch up eventually in this area either by making use of an external LLM in Siri or by coming to market late. Since so many of their AI developers have jumped ship and gone to Meta, I wonder if they have the talent to catch up.
