I love tennis and first enjoyed watching Bille Jean King (née Moffit) at Wimbledon. Then in 1988 I was watching the Ladies Final at Wimbledon between Navratilova and Graf. Navraitilova was leading 7-5, 2-0 and it looked like curtains for Graf. Graf then went on to win 12 of the next 13 games to claim the Championhip 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 playing the most sublime tennis I had ever seen.
Steffi had already won the Australian Open and Roland Garros so now had 3 of the Slams. Her next two tournaments were the U.S. Open and the Olympic Games in Seoul. Steffi won both tournaments against Sabatini in the finals thereby earing a GOLDEN GRAND SLAM in a calendar year – something unique to this day.
